D.C. Congressional Internship

While serving as a congressional intern for my hometown district member in the U.S. House of Representatives, I had the opportunity to fulfill a plethora of communications and legislative duties. A typical day on the Hill consisted of leading U.S. Capitol tours to district constituents, voicing the Congressman’s stance on relevant topic matters over the phone, drafting letters denoting concerns regarding various bills and issues, assembling thorough news press clips daily for the Congressman and staff (in D.C. and district), and tracking congressional votes of the 118th Congress. Additionally, I proudly contributed to the Congressman’s online presence by writing copy and choosing images for a website portion informing the public of his specific visits to the district, as well as curated content for the Congressman’s Twitter and Facebook accounts. One of my standout solo assignments involved researching, analyzing, and documenting 118th Congressional Scorecards of 25+ organizations in order to evaluate former and current Representative stances and Congressional votes. Assessing Congressional members’ alignment with an extensive number of organizations was both informative and enlightening. Upon reflection on my time in D.C., I left Capitol Hill with both a renewed outlook and expanded skillset, as well as an eagerness to continue pursuing a career path of utmost fulfillment.
