Help Us Gather (HUG) is a nonprofit organization changing the narrative around disability inclusion. At HUG, I’ve had the privilege and joy of connecting individuals with disabilities to vibrant social opportunities, all while advocating for a world where people of all abilities are celebrated as equals. Through storytelling, innovation, and community impact, I’ve proudly played a role in boosting HUG as a disruptor in the disability space. As HUG’s Community Outreach & Content Specialist and one of only three team members, my responsibilities range from managing day-to-day operations to planning and managing large-scale events for adults with disabilities to serving as the content creator for social media accounts, blogs, WordPress calendars, website copy, and more.
Blog and Website Copy
Launching and maintaining original blogs for two nonprofit initiatives and producing advocacy-driven articles that reframe disability inclusion and inform community audiences has been a priority of my role from the start, and you can find a few of these articles on The Inclusive Edit.
Writing event recaps in HUG’s voice for all of our 2025 and 2026 events was a unique writing endeavor, and one that I’m proud to share. You can find all of my written recaps on HUG’s website, plus my page design contributions here: Friends of HUG Social Group Event Recaps .
Interviews
Serving as a spokesperson for media outreach sources, such as WFLA Channel 8, has been an incredible aspect of this position. Watch my recent interview with WFLA Channel 8 regarding a disability discrimination investigation in Florida: WFLA Channel 8 News Interview. In addition, I’ve had the opportunity to serve as a spokesperson for funding opportunities, including HUG’s acceptance of a $100,000+ awarded foundation grant. I encourage you to watch the following video, filmed on behalf of the Bucalo Family Foundation, to hear me discuss HUG’s purpose and get a glimpse of the organization’s impact: Bucalo Family Foundation Beneficiary Video .
Social Media
Developing a social media strategy and creating content that caters to the community HUG serves has been nothing short of a blast. Below are some of the short-form videos and engaging graphics I’ve created:
